Caiman is the first of its kind in the world.
The reason for this is tantalum’s incredible resistance to handmaking techniques and its conflicting nature of both hardness and malleability.
Caiman shows an undulating semi-tension look, with gold joins and linings to showcase the handmade nature of the piece. A stunningly saturated geometric shield-cut Colombian emerald is clasped a level above perfectly matched tapering trapezoidal diamonds, ending in a petite tapered bullet cut.
Moving the ring, emerald green reflections shoot through from the high-polished internal band, and looking through the side you see the profiles of the gems.
As the thickness of the tantalum waxes and wanes, the gold internal band moves with it to make a piece that feels completely balanced while never being uniform.
Months of research and development lead me to this 90-hour project, and though it’s completely unique to my usual style it’s the piece I’m most proud of throughout my entire career.
